A big night from blueliner Quintin Unreiner wasn’t enough to put the SEAC Midget AAA 15 Tigers over the top on Friday.

Unreiner netted two goals and a helper against Lethbridge, but the Tigers weren’t able to close the gap against the Headwater Hurricanes as they fell by a 6-5 score.

SEAC scored the first goal of the night less than two minutes in, as Ethan Machan continued his hot start to the season with an unassisted marker to make it 1-0 for the Tigers.

That lead tripled to 3-0 with two straight goals off the blade of Unreiner, however Lethbridge’s Nolan Price was able to solve Tigers goalie Aidan Low late in the period.

The Tigers’ lead quickly evaporated in the second period, with the Hurricanes scoring two goals from Nathan Bohmer and Wyatt Broderson within 24 seconds to tie things up at 3-3.

Callen Prosofsky and Bohmer exchanged goals before time would run out on the second frame, as the Tigers and Hurricanes were knotted at 4-4 with 20 minutes to go.

Lethbridge’s Syprus Ives gave the visitors the go-ahead goal 3:10 into the third period, before Colby Garner beat Low with 15:13 left to extend their lead to 6-4.

A late goal from Hayden Prosofsky pulled SEAC to within a single goal, but the Tigers weren’t able to generate any more magic and had to settle for a 6-5 defeat against Lethbridge.

Now sitting at 1-1 to start the 2018-19 season, the Midget 15 Tigers head to Calgary on Saturday to battle the CNHA Blazers at 5:15 pm.

One game on Thanksgiving weekend for the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers meanwhile, as they play host to the Lethbridge Golden Hawks at the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre at 2:15 pm on Saturday.
