Bantam AAA

The South East Athletic Club bantam AAA Tigers had a five-game unbeaten streak snapped Sunday.

At Hockey Hounds Arena, the Calgary Bisons laid an 8-3 beating on the Tigers, who had earned a 5-5 tie in Okotoks the day before.

A wild second period saw the Bisons turn a 2-1 deficit into a 6-2 lead. Connor Gourley had two of those goals, only one of which came on a power play.

Shane Smith had a goal 16 seconds in for the home side, while Roman Cherniak and Denyn Smith had the others. Kaiden Morin was pulled after making 24 saves through two periods.

SEAC had a big second period Saturday in Okotoks, going up 5-2 until two late goals before the last intermission gave the host Oilers some hope. They parlayed that into a single point with the lone goal of the third.

Okotoks outshot South East 48-30, as Bodee Weiss came up big for the Tigers in net. Cherniak, Dawson Seitz and Kieran Christianson each had a goal and an assist while the other goals were scored by Tyler Broesky and Matthew MacPherson.

The Bantam AAA SEAC Tigers are on the road this weekend.

Midget 15's

The SEAC midget 15-year-old team continues to roll, making the most of its lone home game this weekend.

On Saturday, the Tigers beat the Lloydminster’s Bobcats 5-0. Aidan Low made 28 saves for the shutout.

Tigers players got 47 shots on the Lloydminster net. Ethan Machan netted a pair of goals on the day, notching the first and last goals in the contest, while Hayden Prosofsky, Jarred Schrock and Cole Rath each potted one as well.

They host Red Deer Saturday (2:15 p.m.) and the Calgary Bruins Sunday (12 p.m.), both at Hockey Hounds.

Saturday's game will see the SEAC Midget 15's continue this season's theme of community involvement, as they are hosting a Cereal Drive in support of the Medicine Hat Foodbank. Please bring your donation of a couple boxes of cereal to this most worthy cause to Saturday's game vs Red Deer on Saturday at the Hockey Hounds Arena!
