The South East Athletic Club’s midget 15-year-old AAA club broke out of a slump Sunday.
Following the team’s fifth loss in a row, a 3-1 decision to Red Deer Saturday, the Tigers headed further up the road to Edmonton.
Against the Maple Leaf Athletic Club, they battled to a 5-3 win.
Josh Drefs’ shorthanded marker with 5:06 remaining was the difference, augmented by a last-minute goal from Zach Hauck. Matthew MacPherson, Daniel Ganert and Aiden Ma had the other goals, while Kaiden Morin made 26 stops.
Ty Flaig had the lone goal Saturday in Red Deer, with Landon Porteous making 28 saves. Red Deer scored twice in the final six minutes to take the win, exactly what SEAC did Sunday to MLAC.
The Tigers are in Calgary this Saturday but return home Sunday to face Calgary Royals Blue, 2:45 p.m. at Hockey Hounds.
