BANTAM AAA

It’s a battle for second place so far in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League’s Ram South Division.

The South East Athletic Club Tigers kept pace with a 2-0 win over fourth-place Lethbridge last Wednesday, but were shown the ropes in a 4-3 loss by division leader Red Deer Saturday.

Beck Boiteau was in net for both games, making 24 stops for the Wednesday shutout on the road. Elias Eisenbarth scored and assisted on Julian Laqua’s insurance goal.

At Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre Saturday, Boiteau made 30 saves against Red Deer. The Tigers only managed 17 shots on the Rebels net but made things interesting with goals from Gavin Smith, Cole Unger and Josh Van Mulligen.

Now 5-10-3, SEAC is a point back of Airdrie for second but with two games in hand. Red Deer is way ahead with a 13-1-2 record, while Lethbridge is 5-12.
